A Bedroom/Closet Reimagined

The master bedroom in this client’s home was long and narrow and had a small walk-in closet. Working with a designer, this client had 3D drawings of what they wanted and a floor plan.

During the initial planning stages, it was discovered that this space was not properly insulated. Insulation was blown into the entire attic through the opening in the old closet, which will keep the space warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

A wall was built to divide the room, leaving a generous living space that now included an electric fireplace. A floor-to-ceiling space leads from the bedroom to the newly defined closet area. The former closet was better organized using a combination of shelving, hooks and a rail for long-hanging items. All of the lighting in the main closet and bedroom areas is on dimmer switches to allow for different levels of lighting as needed.

Kenzie Grant installed the engineered-hardwood floor, installed and customized the cabinets and built the dividing wall. The finishing trim around the windows, doors and along the floor created a custom, timeless look.
